This may seem like a stupid question but I am trying to figure out how to keep the shutter open for longer exposures as I purchased a remote shutter release the other day. I was looking at a time such as 30 seconds or even a minute. I have a FZ30. I sure would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I believe the longest shutter speed is 60 seconds, but you can only access that in full manual mode.

Hi Annie
Vonsanchez is correct, the longest shutter speed available on the FZ30 is 60 seconds but this can only be achieved in full manual mode. The longest shutter speed in any of the Auto modes is 8 seconds. Thus you will have to experiment with aperture settings if you want to use longer than 8 seconds shutter speeds but if you can get an aperture reading with a speed of 8 seconds while on shutter priority then the correct aperture to use at longer speeds should not be too hard to work out e.g ISO 200, 8 [email protected] f4 = 15 [email protected] and so on, the only problem is you might run out of apertures, in which case lower the ISO setting if possible or add a neutral density filter onto your FZ30 lens or play around with the image post-capture.

Regards

Tony

Sorry ...I did not see the above post....Wish I could delete this.

The longest shutterspeed is 60 seconds and you must use manual mode to be able to access that.....you can not do it in shutter priority
