I haven't made it to the competition site for the NABA Nationals yet this year, but I stepped out of my office this morning and saw this. Grabbed my camera and got off a couple of decent shots before he went below the tree line. I went on the internet and found this information on the balloon and pilot.

The balloon is named Baby Bear Too. Piloted by Dale Wong from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Sponsored by J&J Mechanical, Inc.

He's got a long balloon ride if he's headed back to CA! :blah:

kklaus -

My uncle has a balloon and competes all over the world in it, yet I have never had the nerve to ask him for a ride. Mostly fear stopping me I think. After seeing your photos, I may have to reconsider. Excellent view!

Ha! just sent you an e-mail about the balloons before I got to your post. Job well done. I was at Lady of the Lake this A.M. at 7:00 A.M. Driving to BR we could see the balloons rising in the early morning light. Unfortunately, all I had was my FX01 and they were too far away and the lighting was wrong.

Thanks, LadyhawkVA!

There were some really pretty ones way off in the distance. Even with the TCON17 they were just too far off to get a good capture.

Here's the best distant shot I could manage.

Very nice photos and very pretty subject. It just makes me think peacful thoughts to look at them. I imagine, however, I would not be thinking so peacfully if I were up in one. I'm not so brave. :-)

My friends went up in one in April for their 21st wedding anniversery. They had a most amazing story to tell. They saidthe ride is quiet and very beautiful. They were even able to pick some leaves off the top of a tree they floated past.

Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures with us.

d-sr - It definitely helps brighten things. Right now there are about 60 balloons of all shapes andcolors floating over the city from the morning launch. Amazing sight. Causing some traffic snarls though. Unfortunately I'm working and can't step out to snap some pics. Frustrating!

If the weather holds out this weekend,I should have some good photo ops.

Thanks for viewing!
