Very Nice! Cardinals are one of my favorite birds, but seem timid. I have never snapped one yet...Donna

Nice shot. Try cropping it closer, you might like it better.

Thanks all for viewing and comments.

Don, I cropped some more, but may be too much.

It appears the leaves took centre stage instead of the bird.

Jerry, looks like the slow shutter speed you used (1/30) caught up with you.the shot was taken at f6.3, so you could easily have used a wider aperture would have allowed a faster shutter and got rid of much, if not all of the blurring. looks like you were already at 12x, but perhaps a vertical composition might have placed more emphasis on the bird and less on the the foliage... that white post is also a bit too "hot", but with the FZ's tendency to blow highlights, there's not too much to be done about that...

now that i've picked it apart (sorry, but you did ask for critique), i really like the way you captured the bird looking straight at you... sort of a "what are you lookin' at?" pose. i've never seen a cardinal up this way...

Thanks, for the critique, Rocky. I appreaciate that, because it is the kind of suggestions I hope for, how to make a shot better. Learning to use shutter speed versus aperture is something I am still wrestling with.

Novetan, thanks for your comment also.

Appreciate all comments. the good, the bad and the ugly.:?
