Today (9 Aug) is Singapore's 41st National Day.....where back in 1965 we were ejected out of Malaya and became independent not by our choice.....well, good thing too, else we would not have progress so much since than...

Anyway, back to macros.....did not venture to the parks today, so went down to my house to shoot.

Any C&C are appreciated.

FZ10+Raynox 250, ISO50, F8, 1/60s, A mode, 2 diffused flash, handheld.

#1: Orange Ladybird

#2:Another orange LB....with white head....maybe its a more mature LB
(not so good image with the shallow DOF body)

#3: Mating Flies

#4: Blue tail hopper

#5: JS with Prey

#6: Side profile

Great photos, as to be expected from you. Regarding your National Day, I hope it means the same to you as our Independence Day does to me. Best of Luck in all you do.

All great photos, as usual.
#3 and #6 really stand out for me.
These are the quality of photos I strive to get one day.
Thanks for setting the bar so high.

PS
What the heck is a blue tail hopper? That thing is wild looking.
Makes our bugs seem boring.

# 2 (LB are far easier to shot with Raynox than ants, eh ?!), # 6 and 5 my favourite ones, although it seems the latter one has a lil bit of USM more than usual (forehead hair). Narmer

Thanks!

The hopper is a type of leaf hopper I think. The tail can fan up to be spiky if under threat.

Yes:lol: the LBs are easier!

I am using a method for sharpening now:
1) Duplicate layer
2) USM bottom layer....you won't see any diff
3) Use eraser tool to erase the parts you want sharpen on the top layer to reveal sharpen parts. This will prevent USM of the BG and other parts.
