There were some questions about achromats lately.
I have decided to add a diagramm to my page:

This could help with some decisions if:

- you know the size of the desired objects
- or the necessary working distance

There will be symbols of flies and butterflies to demonstrate the ranges lateron.

Well done Sven. I think it's an excellent idea to add the symbols to the diagram. You've helped a lot of us to determine what kind of aclose-uplens to buy. Thanks for the work you have done.

Very cool! Thanks for all your hard work on the achromats. Would you have the data to add the Nikon 3T and 4T to this list. They are getting hard to find but some to pop up on ebay for those looking. I recently picked up a 3T to complement my DCR150/250 set. I also think the icons would be very nice. It would make the chart very easy to understand. Especially for those of us still working with obsolete units of measure like inches. :-)

There will be some additions soon:

- target symbols
- inches
- diopters (related to the working distance)
- nikons
- GIF format (smaller size)
- adjustments to different vignetting behavior with smaller lenses (eg. TZ1)

There was a chart showing the working distances of the FZ without lenses.
This could be included too.

This is a new version, using the suggestions here and at dpreview:

I checked the FZ5 without lenses and zooms up to 4*
The Leica people did quite a good job.

The camera can catch:
- a wasp at 5cm distance (be careful please)
- a butterfly at 12cm (might scare it away)
- big butterflies (frog) or a butterfly on a flower at 28cm (we have seen such examples)
- a sparrow at 53cm
and then the tele macro takes over!

All that achromats give us is: DISTANCE!
... and a closer approach to very small objects.
