I went a little crazy this morning and stacked the full DCR-5320 on the DCR-250 for +13 diopter. I was amazed that a couple of bugs actually let me get close enough to get some puictures. At full zoom the lens is only 2 inches from the subject. Click on the pictures to view them full size.

I believe this is some type of treehopper. F8, 1/250 sec., 432mm

Makes me want a close up lens too...great macro shots! It's hard to believe that bugs are so fascinating until you see one this close.

Annie and D.Ann thanks for the comments!

Here's one more. I just spotted this little guy hunting so I had to get my camera and get a shot.

Excellent clarity and lighting! Is the light natural and if not, what are you using for light? (did I use the word "light" enough?) :?

The first pic is excellent. Nice details captured.

The focus on #3 and #4 are spot on!
The flies shadows are kind of harsh, and the spider face is abit overexposed.

Thanks RedStickMan and thcuanye!

I'm using a Sunpak 383 flash with the Omni-bounce diffuser, and a small white card to bounce some light onto the dark side. I couldn't use the card with the fly shots because of the fly's position. I was actually holding the camera upside down for the fly shots.

Here's another fly from yesturday evening. There was very little available light, because it was about to rain, so the flash is really the only light source in the picture.

The Fly eyes are very clear on the 1st one, I hope to get as clear as that one day.

F8 seems to be how you shoot a lot, I will have to try more F8 as I have latley used F11 a lot and really it seems I need more light.

When you shoot at 250th and F8 do you not have trouble with black LCDscreen? or do you just press the buton in one single motion?

I have a habit of pressing it half way! making taking a pic imporsible as it goes black!

How are you posting links to your Flickr account? I cannot copy and paste onto this forum  what am I doing wrong?

Very nice macros, 2" is really close, I am surprised you got them to sit still.

Vai

Nice set of macro shots indeed - No 2 is spot on and the DOF and detail on eth lil grass hopper is really good. Are these the first FZ7 macros if so they show lots of promise? The FZ's and Raynox look like a really nice combo.

Cheers
