depending on where in the EU, Vat is 19%. The current exchange rate on US prices. And just plane old price fixing on the G10 in japan.

What ever the reason, the G2 two lens kit in Japan, is about the same as a one lens kit in the US!!!!!!!!
However, for most other camera types, the US usually has cheaper prices than Japan.

The exchange rate differences between Japan & US haven't fluctuated more than about 5% in the last year, so that's not the reason.

And the G10 prices are not price fixed.... The G10 is not common in Japan and not in demand, so the price stays high.

It is all about the amount that panny USA imports and when they sign the deal. If it was a very large order, and that dollar was up 5% it would make it a bit cheaper. Also the US discount more on electronic then most other countries, I think there are no import duties on electronic in the states. And all the online sites do not charge state sales taxes, for most of the states. They only collect taxes for a hand full of states. But I think in japan, you pay the tax no matter what. But I the last time I got a lens in japan, it was less the the US, did not have to pay any duties or taxes in japan, and non to the US Customs either.

I've watched the prices for Pany micro 4/3 cameras in Japan for almost 2 years now, and they are ALWAYS a lot cheaper than in the US. (unlike any other brand or camera type)
The G2 has been shipping for about 4 months now, so even if orders were places 8 months ago and it was 5% cheaper, it doesn't explain the 30% price differential.

Well, I think it's either price fixing in the other countries (other than Japan), or else the importers/distributers (etc) are making a handy profit!!!!
OR, if it's (low!!) price fixing in Japan, we need more of that!!!

If you do so, you need to look at kakaku.com, where it list the cheapest prices in Japan.

In Japan:

GH-1 with 14-140mm lens:

75,000 yen = 660 = $875 USD
