Default Just got my GF1

I ordered the GF1 while Amazon had them for $299, plus a Zuiko 70-300mm lens. Hope to take it out this weekend to try it out!

Question: What are my options for a macro lens? I know that Panasonic/Leica has one that cost around $800, but that's a bit (actually, a lot) out of my price range at this time..... Does anybody else make a compatible macro lens? Would a conversion (diopter) lens work?

Thanks in advance for your help... I'm moving up from an FZ35, so it's big step up for me.

Saly-

Count me into the GF1 group. I just ordered the GF1 body from Sammy's (thanks to your mentioning that Sammy's had it for $299.95). It makes sense for me, as I already own the Panasonic 20mm, Oly 14-42mm, and the Panasonic 45-200mm lenses as well as the necessary Oly External Flash units, that should work on the GF1.

I took the free shipping, so I probably won't see the GF till the end of the week, or even the following week. I will start posting photos when I receive the GF1.

Thanks again for your posts, Saly. Now I have to decide if I will keep the FZ40 or not?? Who knows??

congrats on the new camera. The lens you got will not c-af on with the gf-1.

I would keep this chart with you if you plan on adding 4/3 lenses with the adaptor.

I'm very impressed with the images so far, just a pain carrying around different lenses - I got spoiled by the FZ. Under bright sun, I think that FZ can do almost as well, it's in the limited light conditions that the GF1 really pulls away. I would definitely hang on the your FZ40, just like I intend to keep my FZ, unless my son decides to keep it....

Shoturtle, yes it doesn't do continuous, but does regular AF just fine so it's good enough for me. The biggest issue for me is the lack of image stabilizer with this lens. I also picked up a used Lumix 14-45mm for a good price, so I'm pretty well covered for a while. I own a Raynox 250 conversion lens which fits on the Lumix lens, but I find it difficult to use. I may have to look for a different option. Do you have any recommendations? I love close-up photography.

Thank for this link, it's very helpful!

I ordered it through Amazon, but it originated from Samy's. This was about 10 days ago, and since then, it's been sold out at both Amazon and Samy's! Sorry.....

Canon 500D would actually work better for the larger sensor camera. It will give you 18 inch of working distance and it is a higher quality lens then the Raynox 250. So a 2 dioptic lens is easier to use compare to the Raynox 250.

Here a sample of the epl-1 with the panny 45-200 with the 500D conversion lens.

PS with the 70-300 and the 500D you will have 18 inch working distance, but with the longer zoom of the the 70-300 you will have even more mag.
