Default G3 Video question

Hello there,

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the G3 to continuously shoot video (i know it'll break the file up into 3.99 GB files) without pressing the video record button each 29:59 segment after it stops?

I would like to just leave the camera set up & use it to film an entire event (a play) on a tripod.
even if someone knows of a remote/timer that would be greatly appreciated

Thank you for your time
Alex

I believe the time limit of 29m59s is to avoid the cameras being classed as video cameras in which case they are taxed at a higher rate in some parts of the world.
So unfortunately I don't think there is an easy way around the limit.

Hopefully someone will prove me wrong!

Cheers

Don

I think the US versions of the GH1, GH2 and G2 models could record continuously, as the EU regulation didn't apply here. There is a "hack" available for the GH models, but I don't know if it is available for the G3 model.

You might search "G3 video hack" and see if there is something available now. "Vitaliy" is a name that keeps coming up. I'm not into video myself, so I don't follow that area.

In EU many years ago was "invented" an extra tax (14%) for video RECORDERs for protection against Japan, Korea
... NO recorder was built in Europe! - cameras with video (longer than 30min) are classified as "video recorders"

You can buy Australian models - also PAL, but no extra taxes

Apparently there is now a hack for the G3. If you do a search you should be able to find it. I found links to it everywhere.
