Optio S problem

i've had my optio S for several months now and it has been working perfectly. until a few weeks ago, i turned the power ON and the lens would not come out, it would just automatically shut off. i recharged the battery just to make sure it is full, and still the lens would not come out. BUT if i want to view my images (by pressing the Power Switch and Playback Button together), it works and is functioning well.

Is someone experiencing the same thing? i would hate to go through returning the camera for it's warranty. help!

btw, i did not drop the camera.

Oooooh.... same problem as you.

Yesterday, lens didn't came out. No logical reason: no drops, always care. I bought my camera only 6 months ago, it's on warranty.

I noticed your quote is from november 2003, some months ago.

I suppose that now, on july 2004, your Pentax must work fine.

How did you do it? Technical service? Warranty covered it?

Hope your answer. Help!!!

i had the same problem.

while i was taking pictures my Optio S turned off and when trying to turn it back on - a message "A90" was on the display and the camera died.

i saw in some forums that reinstalling the firmware should solve the problem but not being able to find the firmware - i turned it over to the lab.

after "just" 5 weeks i got it back with a New main board (!!!). the lab said that it burned out. donno how. also - i never dropped the camera and used it for 6 months.

luckily the warrenty covered the fix...

maybe it's a feature ???

arnon.
