I have a new Optio s5i and have noticed that my images in portrait mode are quite "soft" -Almost like the Auto Focus is locked onto the wrong object.

Has enyone experianced this problem, alternativley are there any tips

The quality setting was at 2-Star ISO setting was Auto

sample "Soft" Image can be found at (Approx 1.5Meg):

(PS: I am "upgrading" from a 35mm Compact Pentax with SMC lenses that had razor sharp images. This my first digital so I am still getting use to it)

Yes, if you look at the EXIF data on a Portrait mode shot, you will notice that Pentax sets the 'soft' setting to 'on'. Recommend just use the program mode or set up a User mode to the sharpness of your preference. I will say that I am not really that pleased with the sharpness of the images in general with this camera. Steve must have got a 'golden' test model!
