For a collector of Series 1 lens this would be a good one...I don't collect I use mine. This one would see little use. Too afraid of decreasing it's value.

This article confirmed what I was thinking when you brought it up. There are really only two ways to get a 3D picture - one is by taking the same scene from two different angles and then viewing them through an optical device (called a stereoscope as I recall - been many years since I played with one) or a method I saw on the internet last night where you sort-of cross your eyes as you are looking at the pair of pictures (sounded difficult, stereoscopes are easier). I actually have an old View Master viewer and a couple of picture wheels ofnational parksthat date back to the late 50s, I think. That's an example of the two picture offset for 3D effect.

The other way is the way this lens does it - it uses a red/cyan to offset the image and you'd get the full effect by using a pair of "glasses" where oneeye pieceis red and one blue (think of the old-fashioned 3D movies). A friend of mine had a wonderful book of photographs taken this way - it was so cool to see cacti "growing" out of the page, and change perspective as you moved your head to one side or the other. Your lens would be fun to play around with but not sure it would have much practical use.
