One of my cheaper buys from EBAY but also one of my favorite walk-about lens. Super llight and not too slow on the Autofocus.

I like the female cardinal shot best. Good bird shots.

Wide open Simon. This lens is about as good from one end of the Aperture range to the other. I get the best at around f/11 though.

Take a look for a Sigma 70-300 APO DG EX. They are very good and will give you a wider focal length range!

The second shot. That little guy with his headtop feathers sticking up, looks like it's got that, "yeah just try it" look. Shame about the branch infront.

Noteto self  i need to learn more about birds.:!:

Nice shots Bigdawg.

They can be so frustrating as you wait for a half hour or so for one to land just right...Then fly off as you are pushing the shutter button!!

Thanks Craig!! And we are friends here...It's just...

I've been thinking about the 70-300 apo but then the 55-300 pentax should be good, when it comes, maybe, i think .... doh !!!!

Both are decent lenses...In the end it comes down to your skill and determination to make it work.. You'll do it!

Great shots, bigdawg! Really superb.

Regarding some of the other posts on this thread, the 70-300 APO DG is my standard lens at this point. It's probably on my camera 90% of the time.........

I'll probably stay with the DL for a zoom to 300 lens. But after I get my new Laptop I plan on a good 300mm Prime! Course ther is always the Bigma when I wanna get on out there! LOL
