thought i'd post these here as well.

shot from about 80meters with the takumar500mm at f8.

i wanted to see what i'd gain and lose using a 2X TC. i think it did well. these at f8 also but actual would be a 1000mm f16.

Wow. Still very good even with the 2x. Shows what you can get with the correct exposure.

rt., shoot for the hi-lites. you can fix just about anything else but if the hi-lites are blown you're screwed.. i always shoot to the rt. of the histogram.. this is a really tough lens to focus. even at 80meters

Found that with my DL2 as well. If the highlights go, then delete pic. However, if shooting at high ISO, then too dark areas tend to show up a lot of noise.

More a lens demo really.... but any how....

Nice.... is that a direct mount or adapted lens?
The 500 is very nice, the 2x looses a fair amount.... but I bet a 1.4/5x on it would be nice... and still about 750mm

Completely manual I am guessing ?

Where did you get it from?

totally manual.. tripod mounted. the lens is 20'' long and about 8pounds. not much hand holding here.. i'm looking for a 1.4.. it's next on the list.. never have liked 2X much.
