Holy smokes. That's a whole lotta zoom!!!! Nice shots. I'm surprised at how much wildlife you are able to capture during these harsh winter months. The sigma 50-500 looks quite sharp at the long end. What are you thoughts on this particular lens? I've seen pictures of the lens itself and when it is full extended out, it looks HUGE! Do you use a monopod/tripod? How fast is the autofocus? Is it noisey when it focuses? Thoughts on this lens would be appreciated, since I am still researching what my next telephoto lens upgrade will be.

Morning royce10

I am pretty lucky if I go North in the summer to the high country there is a lot of wildlife and in the winter I go South and they are there for the winter.

I have a monopod set up I plan on using but these photos and the ones I took this morning were hand held ,car, tree limb & a fence pole.

I don't have a problem with the focus time and yes it is slower than my Tamron 24 -135.

I don't hear good enough to tell you if it is noisy or not. Sorry.

I will try and get a photo of the camera with the Bigma attached.

After only yesterday evening and then again this morning about all I can say is I am a happy camper with both lenses. Tamron 24 - 135 & Sigma 50 -500.

You handheld @ 500mm ? wow

I get camera shake at 200mm because of my shaky hands

All I can say is WOW! Looks like you won't have any problems adjusting to this lens (and am I ever jealous of those outstanding pictures - not sure I'd be able to handle a lens like that).

Hi TDN, thanks for looking and commenting. So far I have done hand held, fence post, car & a tree limb. I do plan on trying ti with my monopod one of these days.

Holy Lens Cap...that is some clarity and sharpness for a lens with such a wide zoom! I need to seriously consider this lens for when I get afflicted with a case of LBA.

Very nice images...great composition, perfect exposures, and super sharp images. Thanks for posting these! Jay

Hi Donna thaks for the kind comment about my photos.

I weighed it because someone asked about how heavy is it. 6 1/2 pounds according to my scale.
