Hi..

I am after a wide angle lens and have narrowed the choice down to two. The Pentax 16-45mm F4 at £309 or the Tamron 17-35mm F2.8 at £327. I am leaning towards the Tamron, mainly because it's a faster lens.

Any views or opinions would be appreciated.

My choice would be the Tamron for the speed and price($289) at sigma4less.com. From the reviews I've seen, it is very sharp but CAs could be a problem. I am looking to purchase this lens if the DA* 16-50 value is not there and available.

Thanks jabilson007 for you reply and comments. The speed of the Tamron is a big plus I agree.

Hi there ,

By the way the Tamron 17-35mm is a f/2.8-4.

Why don`t you buy a Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 , it`s a 2.8 all the way and the review are better then the 17-35mm?

Hi..

I finally ended up with the Pentax 10-17mm F3.5 - 4.5 fisheye. It came yesterday, so not had the chance to try it out yet.

I don't think the Tamron 17-50 2.8 is available in Pentax mount. If you know where this could be purchased, please let me know.

I agree with you guillermovilas I have not seen the Tamron 17-50 for the Pentax, the one I was originally looking at was the Tamron 17-35, before I finally decided on the Pentax 10-20.

So what do you think about the Pentax 10-17? I've thought about it, and would be interested to see what you come up with. Not sure I would use it enough to buy it, but I'm still interested.
