It's not a question of the camera or the lens being manual.... just likely a real old (is it a M42 mount?) and probably not even the best of its time.

Just what lens is it exactly?

Or maybe also if multicoated its all been worn off over time and poor cleaning.

Try shooting at f/8 or f/11 and see if it still there. I have heard that PF is more common in older lenses when shot wide open.

i see you do not know pentax lenses at all. let me list the pentax series of lenses.
in the beginning there was the
M42, screw mount
then the K mount. all lenses since have this mount. this was considered the K series
then the M series, as this lens is.
the A series
the F
the FA
DA
some lenses were also made as FA-J
now you know the maker and the model. suggestions for the problem????

Chesslanka
some lens are worse than others. you never know which one. as stated close down a little. shoot with the sun behind you. get a quality multi-coated UV filter and put on the lens. definately use a lens hood. CA or PF is fairly easy to get rid of in almost all decent graphics program. i can tell you how to do that also.

Yes I could have ASSUMED that, but simply ASKED for maker....

I could have said for recent posted shots JUST A50 2.0 but said SMC Petnax-A 50mm f/2

Not like NO OTHER manufacturer ever made a M, A, FA or other series lens for Pentax cameras.
