Just to let everyone know that the Pentax DA 40mm f/2.8 Limited is back in stock at bhphoto.com!
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation
Listed price is $275-50 MIR =$225!

I been waiting for this lens for about 3 months now and it is finally in stock. I didn't order mine through bhphoto, I had my name on the list with adorama.com. They also had it in stock but sold out.

I should be getting mine next week since it takes about a week to get here.

Happy :|

Why this lens over any other similar one?

I know it's "Limited" but what have you seen that made you want it?

I like pancakes and it looks like one.
:-)

Besides the fact that it is limited, it is very small and compact. When mounted on my K100D, it becames a really portable walk around camera.

Pancake lens can only be great if it matches the non-pancake with quality. This one obviously is.

The 40mm Limited is what I classify as the "Brutally"
sharp category. It is one of sharpest lenses I have ever used. In fact I used it exclusively for my last fashion shoot called "Diva". Here is a sample.

BTW I have a good deal from Henry at Can$269 with free shipping plus tax. I have 50% chance of getting the same US rebate. I will wait

How does this lens compare with the FA 43mm f/1.9 limited, apart from the 43mm's extra stop?

Hardly anyone has these two together for testing. They are too close in focal length.
43mm Ltd is 70% more in price and size. I believe at this range, optical difference is likely very subjective
