There are a couple of versions of this lens. As I said before, I got mine in 1980 with the ME and I'm not sure what all the differences are between the various versions. I do know that the review posted is for an SMC version, not the Takumar (Bayonet) version that I have. Here's a picture of mine - notice that it is missing the wording on the inside of the lens (no SMC designation).

At lunch I took several pictures with mine, and I'm going to post some of them. There is nothing scientific about the comparisons - I didn't have much time and so used both the K10 and the K100. The K10 over-exposes with manual lenses, so all of the DA 50-200 pictures were taken with it, while I used the K100 for the pictures with the Takumar. Also, remember that I'm not happy with my DA 50-200 lens - I think there's something wrong with it. Even so, the results are a bit surprising and I don't quite know what to make of them. I'm going to post more than I probably should - I'd be interested in what conclusions/thoughts others have about them.

#1 - K100, Takumar at 2.5 (just to show difference in DOF between the two lenses, and to get some idea of sharpness).

K10, DA 50-200, f4.5 - the largest aperture it has at approx 135 (I didn't always hit 135 with it).

Both cameras are set at "natural" not bright. I used Av setting for the K10 because I tried to match aperture. All pictures were taken from the same spot, but all are hand-held so the framing doesn't quite match.

K10, DA, f8. Remember, both cameras are set to natural. Interesting?

All pictures were taken in raw, converted in Lightroom without any pp at all (whatever LR's default settings are), resized in Photoshop (bicubic sharper) but no other sharpening or pp at all - this is what the cameras made of them.

P.S. K100, Takumar, f5.6

K100, Takumar, f8 again. Thought I would take something that's busy and has some depth.
