Hi all,

I've been looking for a true macro lens for a while I've seen plenty on Ebay, but the bidding usually goes ballistic ... too rich for my taste, this one didn't and Isnaggedit, ... delivered today, an excellent piece of kit, I'm delighted. I've been getting pointers on technique from Roy ( Robar) via E-mail, hope to have some fun with this beastie.

OK Roy,
Thanks for that info, I thought I'd seen something someplace whereby you could extract info from the serial #, probably in one of the links you've sent me, but so far I hadn't pinned it down. I'm extremely pleased with the buy, it's in immaculate condition. ... Jack.

Well !, in your currency ... under $140 US including delivery, I've seen similar lenses topping the UK £ equivalent of $200 US +++ on ebay.UK in recent months, that's what I meant by bidding going ballistic, I realised this one was affordable, and jumped in both feet in the dying seconds of the auction. I'm not watching ebay for a while now, my wallet needs resuscitation. LOL ... Jack.

Jack, you will not be dissappointed with a dedicated macro lens

It'll be fun to sue on flowers and insects, but I really learned to appreciate my 105mm when using it for other purposes.

If you have anyone you could make some portraits of, try it out. The usually high contrast of the macro lens together with the bokeh from the large 2.8 aperture is just great.

That's the page I'd seen before Roy, probably from one of your links.

Hello Tom !, I'm sure you're right on the use of this lens ... I've been into macro for years, I did it the hard way in my film days ( I could never afford a dedicated lens back then). More recently with point and shoot digital cameras, I've used Supplementary lenses + Zoom to achieve reasonable results. Now I have the K100D + a good macro lens I hope to do better. Re. Portraits I'm aware that such a lens has advantages, but it isn't something I do a lot of, perhaps I'll be tempted to do more. Thanks for your comments ... Jack
