How important is the AF, since you already have the M 50mm 1.7 (which I'm still using). First choice for me would probably be the Kiron 105 macro (or variant), or if you could talk your other half into significantly more money, the Sigma or Pentax wide angle (10-17 or 12-24, can't remember the range of the Sigma that starts at 10). Depends on what you want to shoot, really, and you have the basics well covered. It looks like from now on your "toys" are going to be upgrades, and will quicklystart getting much more expensive!

AF is quite important for everything except Macro for me, I am almost legally blind in one and and don't have the greatest vision in the other, so MF is usuallya little slow. An AF would make my shooting flow much more smoothly.

You may have to hunt for awhile to find one of the Kiron 105mm lenses under $200 but if you keep a close eye on the auctions you can probably come in close. If auto focus is a major factor I would go with the 50mm, since you already know you like that focal length. Either one would make a great birthday present though.

Ask your wife to extend the limit to $250 or $300 and use the Pentax rebate if there is really something that is a tad over your (her) budget....

That doesn't have the original prices, but if I remember correctly, The only other thing that I would be interested in that fits that budget is the 40 f/2.8 Ltd, but that's way to close to the 50mm and quite a bit slower, so I think I willstick with the FA50 (and Slingshot AW200 )

You won't go wrong with it - and I know it will be nice to have the AF capability. Be sure to post some pictures when you get it!
