Does anyone have any experience with these lenses, particularly the 28 -210mm f4.2-6.5 I found one on ebay fairly inexpensive but have no previous experience with this lens maker.

cosina makes and rebrands lenses for quite a few makers.phoenix, vivitar and even the pentax100/3.5 macro. middle of the line i'd say.

Hi 2many,

I'll agree with Roy here. Unless the lens is very inexpensive and worth a shot as an experiment, or a known quantity recognized as a high quality sleeper, I'd stick to either Pentax branded lenses, or those from the 3 major 3rd party manufacturers (Sigma, Tamron, Tokina).

. . . just my 2ยข

scott's right. even tho the other 3 may have cosina making their lens it's being done to certain specs. i also find it interesting that both pentax and tokina are both owned by hoya. hopefully we will have some good lens offers in the future

but, if you really want a superb lens you can get a Zeiss soon. it's made by cosina to Zeiss design. and they will not be cheap.

I think I would rather not spend the down payment on my new house on a lens,

I was looking for something that would not break the bank, or if I was disapointed with it, put it on ebay and maybe cut my loss by a little. I did find what I consider is a good price on a Sigma 70-300mm F4 -5.6 DG Macro, but again I can find no information on this lense either. Maybe I will just have to take the plunge

this lens comes in two models a non-APO and an APO version. the APO version is really a pretty good lens for it's price of around $200. i'd suggest it over the lower priced~130-40usd. i've seen a lot of really good images from it. it would probably satisfy you till you get the prime 300mm..
