I'm confused again. Isn't that what Dawg was talking about with the 50mm f1.4? What prime lens do you suggest?

Sorry for the confusion. As I stated earlier I think you need to find something along the lines of a 135mm 2.0. People mentioned an 77mm 1.8 and then using a TC - but the 1-stop loss of light might make it too slow (only 1/3 stop brighter than 2.8 when you add the TC). So the question becomes, does Pentax offer an autofocus prime longer than 77mm and still 2.0 or 1.8?

Yep. FA*85 f 1.4. Offeredevery now and then on the bay, but never as a bargain. It will hurt your wallet.

An alternative might be the A* 85 f 1.4 with the 1.7 AF converter. Work very well, but it's not a budget route either.

The A* 135 f1.8 was never made in AF, and the next step up the fast ladder is FA* 200 m f2.8. Both are found as easily as hen's teeth and won't go under 1000 USD on shreechbay.

Thanks for the info on the 70-200 f2.8.

I was only looking here

It would seem that the new version is not available.

There's a Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 for Pentax, and there is the new Pentax DA* 50-135mm f2.8, if you don't mind a few mm shorter.

Both are under 1000$

There's a Tokina AT-X Pro 80-200mm f2.8 aswell I think, but it's hard to find.

The FA* 80-200mm f2.8 goes well over 1000$...

Not to be picky, but I thought that the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 didn't appear in the Pentax mount.

Please show website to prove me wrong, as it may be what I am after.

Oh yes most definitely there is a Sigma 70-200 f/2.8. Just bought one and mounted it on my K10D. The non-macro ones are the ones to get though and of course they are climbing in price since they are getting hard to find. Saw one got for $1300 the other day, got mine for a tad less. Saw an FA* 80-200 go for $1900, talk about jaw dropping.
