This was an experimnt to try the zoom on a particulalry difficult red flowering tree, the Tasmanian Waratah.

The flowers are a little past their best and have lost the deep red colour .

I find Depth of Field is an issue with the flowers on these flowers.

With that many appendages going in all directions I can see how DOF would be a problem without a tight Aperture.

The appendages are so weird I want to get in really close and make them big and almost surreal, but that ruins the DOF.

I guess because it is in my backyard I only occaisonaly have play with the tree when it flowers.

Neat shot, phil. I'm particularly glad to see it was taken with the 35-85 Series I because I am anxiously awaiting the delivery of one. It was supposed to have been delivered yesterday, but the UPS Tracking software now says "There has been an exception." It was last tracked in Dallas day before yesterday........so.......I don't know if I'm getting it or not.
