according to the specs of this lens i've wondering if the external aperture trick would work on this. altho i've never used it i have read in numerous articles about it's use using a telescope.

great purchase,
roy

Count your blessings...It could have come with a bill to be paid...Kinda the way my kids arrived...LOL That Matched converter probably is gonna be a hard one to find...Probably was thrown away shortly after original purchase! Now you have a search to do to find one!!

Some pictures of the beast...

K1000 clinging to the rear end....

As seen from the port bow...

View from the port quarter showing the position of the focus control..

The rather quaint opening lens cap to stop down to 5.6..

Hi John,

Looks like you got a really great deal, and it's even bigger than I had imagined -- no small wonder that the "normal" 500mm cats are limited to f8!

I'm looking forward to seeing what this lens will do from a sturdy tripod once you get it working as it should.

Scott, it is away with a serviceman right now getting the focus grease renewed, the loose handle secured (before something drops inside and dings the mirror) and the chip at the edge of the mirror investigated.
