I have just picked up one of these, #22608301 to be exact, any clues as to it's quality? The owners manual was printed in 1975!

thanks

simon,
are you sure it's a 85-205 ?? viv made a really good f3.8 75-205.. it also has a matched 2x converter to use with it.
your lens is made by kiron in the last week of feb. in '76. i bough one of these with the matched TC for 16bucks delivered. it really suprised me when i was shooting examples to resell it.. i don't think i've ever ran into a bad kiron lens.

Simon..If it is the 75-205 it is a very good all manual lens. The two I had were as sharp as tacks. Very good macros with them. Not a 1:1 but still very good. I'll probanbly get another one of these days.

I have a Soligor 85-205 f/3.8. From what I have read, Soligor was like Vivitar in Europe, one of the earlier companies that rebadged lenses made by other companies. Vivitar and Soligor apparently marketed many of the same lenses under different names. I believe I also also read that this lens was a Kiron make.

I have not used mine enough to comment on the picture quality. As far as build quality though, it is built like a tank.

Thanks for your comments guys, the lens is an 85-205. I'll have wait till I get a M42 adaptor to start playing. I'll post pic's in the future.

B&H or adorama
about $18 delivered and they focus to infinity. be careful of ebay because of this.

Yes I did look at B&H, but did you see the freight, ranging from $36.05 & $ 75.50 !!!!!!!

I think I'll get one a bit closer to home

Thanks

I have the opportunity to pick one of these up for $20 - what's the verdict, good image quality? Have you had a chance to try it much?

Thanks!
