That's great! I need to compare this to the DA*200. I just bought the DA*50-135, so I'd have a hard time justifying this lens.

Looks like 2008 will be a good year for Pentax lenses (finally).

I'll have to keep an eye on this lens. Might change my plans for fixing my 50-200 but I'll wait for prices to go down a bit (my hubby would kill me if I start talking about another lens right away, especially since I already have the 50-135). It would be nice to have a longer fast lens though.

Wish you hadn't posted this!

This is certainly exciting news for those of us wanting long, fast glass for sports. The specs look good.

Exciting news and at that price I expect they will fly off of the shelves. Does not look like they have HSM for Pentax though, which would be a little disappointing.

I doesn't have it for any mount, just internal motor for nikon d40, but i'm not sure it will be faster.
Consider this lens as a longer 28-75. The price I don't think will go down, it's already considerably lower then competition.

THe only thing that will probably stop me from buying, apart from the price, is the weight. 1.1 kg, even if less than canon or nikon, is still a lot. I would probably stick to DA* 50-135, which is much lighter ( and SDM ).

Hmm
I too have the da*50-135 F/2.8 so I do not know if it will be a waste of money.
Knowing me, I will get it anyway.

I have the DA*50-135 and the Tamron on order. I needed the extra reach at f2.8 for sports shooting. I will be happy to post comparisons as soon as the Tamron gets in.
