played with this a little today and am quite happy with it. of course when i first used it i was using MF when i realized it was an AF lens.
100% center crop, f5.6, and a tad of PP.

That's a sweet little lens, Roy. I love to use it for portrait work.

Looks like yours is living up to the lens' reputation - very nice examples. How much softer is it at 1.4?

Well, this was shot at f1.4 at very near the minimum focus distance so the DOF is rediculously thin, what do you think?

Ira- that's a whole lot sharper than my M 1.4 wide open. I'll be interested to see if Roy has the same sharpness. If I didn't have the M 1.7, which is sharper, I might find a reason for finding one of these.

I think it's a sample-to-sample question. My FA1.4 is much sharper than the F1.7 I had, but both are pretty equal stopped down a bit. For those who missed it half a year ago, check this thread: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/fo...mp;forum_id=94

Just ignore the posts by "Hayward", he's been banned and with reason. Concentrate on the sample shots by me, Daniel and Scott.
