Don't waste your money on this. You know there is an A*1200mm f8, I've seen it for sale once on screechbay. And your kids do have cousins, don't they?

And thanks to Pentax in-house SR you can use it hand held! (Provided you also bring your favourite football team...)

Very nice lens, but at the end of the day, it is "only" a mirror lens.

I think we have all tried the 500mm versions at some point......

Which one Dal? The one I was pointing folks to is a straight stovepipe lens no mirror. A 1000 mm f/8 Kmount lens with SMC coating!

i passed also but for a different reason. i've always thought a lens should have a variable aperture with ring..

Come on Roy, it is just the big brother to your 500 f/4.5 (used one on a Spotmatic in 1969) and it is a pretty good lens, although heavy. It comes with its own tirpod that weighs a ton also, but it really looks cool.
