I got a little bonus at work this week, so I bought myself a SMC FA 50/1.4 yesterday. This is my first prime lens and I have read so many good reviews and knew it was a "must have".
Well, I'm very impressed with the results so far. It's amazing how photos of mundane things can take on new life with this lens. The shallow DOF and bokeh really make the subject stand out. I'm also going to love being able to get shots in low light! Natural light makes all the difference when you don't have a flash, too!
I'm going to a family BBQ tomorrow and should be able to try it out as a portrait lens. Hoping to get some good kid pics.

Here are a few quick shots I got with it today.

Best way to use a bonus. I'm very happy that I bought mine.

First off, very nice photos, I'm looking forward to spring here in Western New York. There's not much color around here of late.

I just received my Fa 50mm f1.4. At first I thought it was back focusing. This appeared at f1.4 to f1.8, hand held. I decided to put my K100D with the Fa 50on a tripod and do a little test.

Frame at left is at f/1.4 and the one at the right is f/8. I focused at the tip on the ball point pen. It looks pretty good to me, much betteron the tripod than handheld.I think when shooting at f1.4 to 1.8 hand held, I must be rocking forward a little when depressing the shutter.Either that'show thin the DOF is on these, or how unstable I am on my feet (and I don't drink either).
