As someone who prefers nature's action shots like BIF I'm most keen to see pix with the new Pentax 300 IF lens.

Bit out of my price range but would love to see pix taken by others with AF shots of flying birds.

Thanks: Ian Mc

A newer 300mm prime is on my want list but I'll probably settle for an M or A lens! I like manual focus better!

I have seen pixtures taken with 300mm primes, but don't have BIF ones at hand, sorry. Those are way through the sky for me (around 450 EUR smc-M* 400/4 and 550 EUR smc-A* 300/4) but for sure this would be a nice thing to have now and then...

To be honest a affordable, good and fast 100-300mm lense or something around that range would be nice. I am using a 2x TC on my Kiron-M 80-200/4 at the moment (giving 160-400mm) and the range is good, just a tad slow in that combination.

I've thought about the new DA*300 because it might be nice to have an AF lens (I currently have the A*300). However, when I looked at how much it weighs, I changed my mind and thought about buying a used F orFA*300, assuming I can find one reasonably priced. I'm in no hurry to upgrade my A*300 - it's an outstanding lens and I really don't find the manual focus to be that big of a deal at all. The sample pictures that I've seen taken with the DA*300 have been awesome, but since I haven't actually seen pictures taken by ordinary folks yet.

Try a Sigma DL 100-300 lens...You can find them on Ebay for under 100 dollars sometimes!

Thank you all for your replies. I'm reasonably satisfied with my Tamron 70-300 plus on occasions the Tamron 1.4 Tele-converter but the new Pentax IF 300 supersonic does sound inviting !!!

I really like the SDM on the DA*50-135, it's a joy to use. I've never thought it was necessarily faster than a regular lens, but it sure is quieter.
