Amid all the horror stories of the Pentax DA* 16-50 lens, it ultimately provided too tempting to not try for myself as I was looking for a good companion lens to my Pentax DA* 50-135. After receiving the lens earlier this week, I didn't get much of a chance to try it out, other than a few sample shots to make sure it functioned. Today I shot an event with it figuring if I didn't like the results from the first few shots I would switch to another lens, possibly my Tamron 28-75 XR Di.

The result at the end of the day, I really liked this lens. I think this lens is a keeper and my DA* 50-135 has found a new companion. Here are just a few pictures from it.

Glad that you are one of those happy purchasers of the DA*16-50. Instead of being happy and silent (majority of the case), you post stunning images.

dpreview has a lot of unhappy and vocal users indeed.

How would you rate the DA* zoom with your Tamron 28-75 XR Di? When you have settled down , maybe you can give us some info

Daniel

Am looking at this lens myself, or something similar from Tamron or Sigma.

What do you think is the better. Pentax or your Tamron.
