Anyone have this Sigma 24-60mm f/2.8 for their Pentax dSLR?

I can't afford the DA*16-50 f2.8.

Or the Tamron 17-50 f2.8, or even the Sigma 18-50 f2.8.

So I think I'm willing to sacrifice the wide endup to 24mm, but I'm wondering how the Image Quality is compared to the 18-55mmKit lens first version.

Thanks

Jim

I had that lens for Canon, but my copy had a lot of problem of front focus.

When I was able to get the focus right anyway it was very good. But I don't think it was better than the kit lens, just faster.

I have the slightly heavier Sigma 24-70 EX DF (77mm version) which I use most often.

You are right about the missing wide end. But there is not much comparison with a F2.8 straight zoom when it comes to image qual.

A lot and a lot of images for you to consider particularly those wide or near wide open

Thanks bb2 and Daniel. I'm not sure what I will do. The range is limited enough at 24-60mm but the comments about it not being more than 54mm is disappointing. Along with comments about FF or BF issues on many sigma lenses.

Not really. These are shots of 60mm taken recently with that F2.8 zoom

Wow, nice shots, Daniel. And to complicate things the reputable vendor I am considering recently dropped the price from what was already a steal.

Hi,

I have the Pentax 28-70mm f4 and I don't feel the loss of the wide end. I have my 18-55mm lens for that.

They call this lens the baby version of the 28-70mm f2.8 lens. Watch eBay or KEH they go for a $100.00.

Well. This batch of the zoom were all made in Japan. I think except the ltd lenses , all the current line up (of Pentax ) are made away from Japan.

I have the 24-70 F/2.8 macro, which I hear is leaps ahead of the 24-60 or 24-70non macro

I also have the 28-75 F/2.8 tamron but that 4mm on the wide end is gold.
