Did you ever get extension tubes for the 77 Ltd? I played around with my home-made extension tube (formerly a 2X TC) a bit and thought it worked very well with this lens. My tube is manual so I lost AF and AE, but the pictures came out quite nicely. I have the Viv 105 macro so it's not a combination I'd probably use very often, but it would be a solid, satisfying option if you don't have a macro lens. Especially if you have tubes with contacts so you maintain the AE function.

even when you have no AE most macros will only require you to meter once.. at least till you change subjects.. lighting doesn't change much.
