at last; I had the opportunity of "going to the zoo" tp try out my new pentax k100d super AND tamron 18-250

some comments

most images in 200-250 rage, handheld

camera mostly set to auto

fairly cloudy day

elephants only in parts as steel cables in the way

single giraffe imahes in iso 1600 and double giraffes in 3200; ok, bit of noise visible, bot not a bad result.

overall I am quite pleased

comments and suggestions welcome

Very nice pictures - it looks like the lens works very well. I have to ask - what's under the afgan (last 2 pictures)?

I just bought the exact same set up just two weeks ago. It looks like the 18-250 will do nicely for both of us.

It's odd I can't find any more opinions of the lens on Steve's than I have.

That Tamron 18-250 super zoom is an amazing lens.

I really like this lens. It was the only lens I took to Machu Picchu last year, and it exceeded my expectations. I also attended a Tamron workshop put on by Don Gale (http://www.photographybydon.com) and he uses this lens for a lot of his work, even though he can use pretty much any lens he wants.

I even had a blurb in the latest Tamron electronic newsletter about using the lens on vacations. For me it's the perfect travel lens. Here's the newsletter:
