I picked up this lens last week off E-bay after my kit lens was one of the ones stolen in Hawaii. This is the non-macro version of the lens. Today was my first opportunity to really try it, and I was pleased.

Very dark sky. Evenwith f2.8, I had to go to ISO 800 to get a 1/100 shutter for the water coming over the falls. This shot was at 18mm.

A flower close-up

Overall, I'm pleased.

Looks good. I have been looking at the new macro version vs the Pentax 16-50mm (since looking doesn't actually cost any money) but it looks like the old version does well too.

Wow. Looks like it does a great job especially in those dark conditions. Look forward to more on a nice day.

Cheers Keith

Paul,

Wondering if you have used this lens in low light. I also have the lens and have had terrible results in low light, which was the number one reason I bought it.

Thanks

I have not, but I will see if I can do some tests over the next couple of days.
