A non-macro shot even at F4. When it comes to sharpness, it is a matter of toning it down rather than up

This lens is fun.

Love the cat, and isn't it nice to have a lens that can take such a wonderful shot of the eye and the whole cat in an instant? No adding filters or additional lenses, no tubes to put on or take off. Simple.

Thx
Actually we have to do manual focus for macro shots anyway. I do take the limiter off which means that the lens will travel all the way from infinity to macro setting. For AF setting that is just not viable as the lens will hunt very long distance .

Hehe for manual shooters that is easy job

Ok . Here is the sequel of this long thread. I had my FA100mm macro back from my daughter who somehow is not too keen using a heavy prime lens. So at the end of the day, I have disposed of my Tamron at my cost (2nd hand). In here I have mixed my Tamron 90mm shots with those of my test FA100mm macro shots. See what you guys prefer/think.
I have made the choice of selling off Tamron mainly as result of it still retaining 5 yrs of Can warranty left and it is almost brand new appearance wise. As far as I can see they are just very very comparable. Really hard to make choice for a non-lens-collector

The difference does not only relate to aperture

1st image from Fa100mm F4.5 with flash non-macro setting w/flash with a lot bigger DoF even at F4.5

2nd image from Tamron 90mmF8 but in macro setting = very little DoF even at F8. Bare minimum even at F8
I was shooting right into his eyeball of course without the flash. And if I used flash I would not be able to get the house reflection.

3rd image macro with F13 - sharp with bounce flash of course
