OK I finally got through the 980 shots from the my day at the show. I only took the new 55-300 and found it to be as good as my old Tamron but it seems better at stationairy subjects. To be fair, this was my first show this year and the light is always rough at Dayton so maybe it did much better that the old Tamron. I am never happy with my pics from there.

Hopefully there will be a few you like. Someday I might get good as this subject.:?

Let's start with the highlight to me - 3 F104's from NASA. I had never seen one in the air before. This 1960's plane still holds the speed record in it's class. The Italians ran one over mach 2.

Then there is the Raptor...

Shockwave the jet truck...

A nice B-25...

A Navy Heritage flight...

A USAF Heritage flight

The Oracle Team...

Steve Tucker by himself

The AeroShell team...

Thanks. Dayton always frustrates me but I got some very good USAF heritage pics. There really were no prop war birds there except the mustang and corsair for the heritage flights. I was suprised the B-25 was there.

The dark navy on the corsair and theposition of the sungave me fits so I really only got one or 2 good ones of the Navy heritage flight.

I enjoyed these. The 55-300 did a really good job, my favorites being the raptor pics.

Thanks. My favorite is probably the second Raptor pic but the USAF crop is a close second. I really wish I had done better on the 104's.

I think very good is too generous but I did better than years past at Dayton. Thanks.

I think the 55-300 will be great in Alaska. I still have not found it's sweet spot but I think it has a lot of potential if I learn to use it.

I particularly liked the 2nd shot of the F-22 with the vapor captured over the wings. Great shot!

Also, the Heritage Flight shots with the old and the new flying together are cool.

Coming from a Boeing Phantom Works Employee. ;-)

Thanks. If you liked those, you might like the other Raptor pic I have posted from the Gathering last year.
