Thanks Kjell, Tim, Paul and Harriet for looking and the nice comments. I really had thoughts about selling this lens as was not having much luck with it, but am feeling better about it now.

I have almost going thru all the elk photos I took last week and wanted to share one more. I couldn't get all of his legs/feet in and still get all of his antlers as I was already on the edge of the highway and couldn't move back anymore.

I have been thinking about the design on a homemade mount for this lens as it does not come with one, and finally found enough materials around the house to make one. It does seem to help and I cannot handhold and get any decent photos with this lens=too old and shaky. I am waiting for the cable release I ordered to arrive and will then know if the support is adequate.
i noticed that your viewfinder eyecup is larger than normal, can you tell me where did you get this

Dave,
Sorry for the delay in answering you. The eyecup is the Pentax magnifier eyecup and I think I got it from B&H-was a lot less expensive than going thru Pentax. I got it due to eyesight and to keep my nose off the lcd screen and is working well for me.
