I have been thinking about the design on a homemade mount for this lens as it does not come with one, and finally found enough materials around the house to make one. It does seem to help and I cannot handhold and get any decent photos with this lens=too old and shaky. I am waiting for the cable release I ordered to arrive and will then know if the support is adequate.

If it holds the lens steady, it works for me. Looks like some smart design.

Are you starting to see the leaves turn in your part of the state? I was up there a little more than a week ago and went down old 71 through the Bostons. There wasn't much happening then. The maples have turned in the Ouachitas, but little else.

Hi Paul, thanks for looking at the lens support-it is more steady than my shaky hands!
I have not seen much color change yet, a few of the Maples are beginning to spot change-few leaves here and there. I have noticed one on HWY 45 on the way into Fayetteville is beginning to change at the top. If this is a good year, that trip down old Hwy 71 should be awesome!

I went to Boxley Valley near Ponca, AR this morning and tried out the SMC K 300 F4 on the homemade lens support taking photos of the Elk along the Buffalo River. So far the best photos of the Elk I have taken.

Obviously the support works, nothing wrong about these pictures! #1 is my favourite amongst the three.
