Post examples if your friend will let you - I'd love to see comparisons between the lenses and cameras!

I have the Pentax Da 18 250mm and find it the best compromise lens I have tried. The sample I am posting was taken at 110mm, F7.1

WOW!! Thank you

After reading OW comment. I was pretty much convinced to get it. Especially after going sledding with my kids the other day.

But now seeing other examples and comments makes me really sure that it would be the best compromise for me in the everyday situation.

As for the darkening edges well ... I usually add a vignette to most of my photos anyways. I have a really heavy hand at Photoshop and I found I like it better that way. I stopped fighting what I like, to conform to what others expect of my photos. In my opinion that is where the art and fun starts for me, in Photoshop.

Hello,

I think you'll really enjoy the lens!

And I don't think it will really feel like a compromise at all.

Take care,
Glen

Hi Glen

Mostly I use flash indoors with the 28-300lens. I use a Sigma EX F2.8 28-70 also, and esp for low light. The EX is my preferred indoor lens. My point was that the super zooms have their uses. Also handy as a walk around lens for outside use if are just taking a single lens.

cheers

I think that you would be very happy with the DA 18-250mm. I have a full kit of primes and zooms thatI usually lugwith me just about everywhere, but I have to say that since adding that lens to my equipment it stays on the camera most of the time, just in case I have to grab the camera quickly if a shot comes up. It is very versatile, and if I find that I am somewhere where it's not convenient to carry a large amount of equipment this fits the bill nicely.

Hello mtngal,

I did the Gear Shoot Out yesterday.

I've really been meaning to do this for a while, but yesterday all the dSLRs were here at my house with my flash stand & umbrella.

Instead of adding to this thread, though, I'll start a new one.

Take care,
Glen

Did you get the Tamron or the Pentax version? Not that it makes a difference as they are essentially the same lens, just wondering which you opted for.

The picture looks pretty good and boy, does he look cold!
