Default New lens..Pentax rear coverter A 1.4xL

Got one on Ebay for $129.28 plus $10.00 shipping. Not an auto focus TC but rather a Auto program TC. I plan on trying it on my Bigma to see if it works better than the Sigma Matched TC that came with my Bigma. At the Pentax webstore it goes for a goodly sum so I feel like I got a bargain. http://www.pentaxwebstore.com/detail/PTX+30943
And here is a look at the Sigma TC http://www.sigmaphoto.com/shop/14x-t...x-apo-dg-sigma

I'll post the results here first. Has anyone tried one of these?

Hi Dawg,

This is on my short list. I've got a few other 1.4x TCs but this is the Gold Standard for the Kmount, at least optically. I'm itching to compare its performance with the stacked TCs. I don't think it'll be a major improvement over the Tamron or Sigma, but every bit helps when stacking TCs. . . I've heard nothing but superlatives about this, but in my experience, the Tamron and Sigma are pretty darn good.

Congrats on another nice acquisition.

I've got it. Haven't used it a lot due to the season, but my test shots tells me you won't be dissappointed. Just watch out so the rear element on the Bigma allows the use of this rather special converter design.

Thanks guys. I had read the reviews and could not believe it went as cheap as it did. Don't worry Kjell, I already have the Sigma one and you have to zoom to 100mm for it to miss the rear lens element...I figure I'll have to zoom to 300mm at least to clear the protruding lens element on this one. If I get tired of it Scott, You and then Kjell will know and then you can decide if you'd like it.....but first to use it a while... Again thanks to both of you.

Thanks for thinking of me Big Dawg, but I think I'll do well with one. Can't stack them anyway, but I can stack it with the 2X-S.
Actually I recently bought a second copy of the 2X-S that I'm going to sell. The previous owner posted a lousy ad with a bad photo of "a Pentax Super A with accessories", only mentioning half of the stuff included. In the picture I could identify the converter since I already have one to compare with. I paid SEK1700 (USD240/EUR175) for the lot, and have already regained USD155/EUR113 by selling a monocular lens converter and a Tokina zoom. Still have an A28mm 2.8 lens, an original Pentax hot-shoe grip with cable, an extension tube set, the camera body (in pristine collectors condition), an MEII winder and the 2X-S converter to sell. The money will come in handy when the K7Super or K8 is released. I'll keep the AF280T flash as a memory though, think I can afford that.

Hi Dawg, I have one of those and it is a great converter, but there are only a few lenses it will fit since it sticks so far into the lens at the rear. It won't even fit my Sigma 300mm 2.8 since the rear element is set to far back on that lens.
