Default New Lens. Vivitar Series 1 35-85 F/2.8 Variable Focus Lens.

Series 1 lenses. Kiron made and quite heavy for it's compact length. 72mm front lens and screw mount. More to be read here.....

This Series I lens provides a wide angle to short telephoto capability in a lens only 3.6 inches long that weighs only 26 ounces. Like its cousins, this Series I lens features a short ten inch close focus range providing a 1:3.5 reproduction ratio. What is more important is that the lens is very sharp throughout this range, with excellent contrast too (thanks to VMC multi-coating). Again, the lens is large in diameter, requiring a 72mm filter, but providing a reasonably fast f/2.8 constant aperture throughout its range.

And here.....

Uhoh,
now that looks interesting - am already waiting for your test shots and opinion. Large diameter, true - but also a fast lense... so that makes sense.

Just a few snapsots with it. I'll do a better job of it this weekend, I hope anyway!

Color rendition reminds me of my 70-210 Series 1 Viv... how hard is the focussing (you know, some manual lenses do better here than others)

Regards,

About on a par with the other series 1 lenses. Very smooth but similar to a macro lens you have to turn it a lot to get from one end to the other of the focus range.

On my K7 it looks much much bigger than my Pentax F 30-80 AF lens.
