Regarding the DA50-200 WR, I managed to buy one brand new recently for 109 (maybe it was originally an unwanted part of a K-7 or K-x twin-lens kit?).

Here's my verdict:

For: compact, light, has a quality look and feel, surprisingly sharp at the 200mm end.

Against: my copy is pretty soft at the 50mm end.

Because of the wider-end softness, I don't think I'd want to spend much more than I paid for this lens - unless WR suddenly became a priority for me. The DA55-300 sounds like a much better bet, but then it's a lot more money here in the UK.

Thanks Pentode!

Yeah sounds like most of the other reviews for that lens to be honest. Looks like I am going to give the credit card a serious dent and get the Tamron 10-24.
