If it is the Tokina made lens (37XXXXX serial number) it has a great reputation and is one of the sharpest lens made. The Kiron one (22XXX serial number ) is it's equal so either will do a good job.You should be thrilled with it. Remember it has a very flat DOF and will blur out the surrounding view at a very close range. I usually shoot at a higher f/stop, even to f/22 to get more surrounding detail.

I looked everywhere on the lens and dont see a serial number, but it is kinda dark in my house at night so I dunno. Either way it is the newer (non AF) version of the tamron SP 90mm 2.8. The one that has the distance indicators inside the glass, not the cutout square

just a few tests sitting in my living room in poor lighting

this one is uncropped at 90mm I believe. Dont hold me against that, I had been drinking

test results proves: It performs well in terrible light!

You are right about DOF

these are without the 1:1 extension tube, and even then its thin at 2.5

I do like the bokeh tho, nothing pretty with these shots, but will have better examples in future, possibly sunday when im not working

second one is cropping bottom as it was showing the metal grating of the keyboard sliding mechanism on my PC desk and was just OOF bokeh black blur

Im likin this baby already
