I don't shoot motorsports that often. But, when I do, it's one of the few types of subjects where I switch to Shutter Priority (versus Aperture Priority) mode, since my goal is to make sure shutter speeds are slow enough to enhance the feeling of motion. ;-)

If you want to see some photos from a member here that's *very* good at using slower shutter speeds that way for motor sports, check out some of the photos from TG

If you dig through the photos in the threads and look at the EXIF info, you'd be amazed at some of the shots (I've seen some he's taken of rapidly moving race cars using shutter speeds as slow as 1/25 second using a 400mm lens, panning with the subject so that it's still sharp). :-)

He has great panning skills.
