Default Sigma 17-35 Aspherical EX

Looked around for a "Kit lens" for my soon to be new Pentax K1 camera. They do not furnish one so I had to get one myself. Found this Sigma 17-35 f2.8-4 EX Aspherical lens on Ebay New for $177.00. When First sold in 1999 these went for $450 or so. Lots of reviews on the DG later versions but not much on this early lens. Most reviews said it was not a sharp lens. Some even called it the poorest lens they had ever tried. Others on the other hand said it was very very sharp. I took a chance and am here to say it satisfies me.

Hi Big Dawg, what did you have the lens mounted to?

Had it on my Pentax K7. Just trying it out to see how sharp and how good the contrast and colors might be. So far I'm happy.

This is a great little lens. I had one but sold it in favor of my Sigma 17-70mm, a lens I find indispensable for my reenactment shoots! I shoot nothing BUT Sigma on my Pentaxes.

I so far am enjoying it. I'll have to wait a while to see how it does on a full frame 36 megapixel sensor.
