Recently was using my *istDS with the built-in flash and found that occasionally the built-in flash would do a staccato pre-flash(?) which I assume was to help the auto-focus. (This was in a room where the lights were dimmed.)
These shots were well-focused. Others that did not initiate(?) the staccato flashing were not well-focused. How does the *istDS determine when to use this assist mechanism (assuming it actually has one) and is there any way I can force it to be used (as the results were good). Thanks! Barry |

Roy,
Is there a flash-assisted auto-focus going in or am I just misinterpreting what I am seeing? Thanks! |

yes, that's what it is. depending on mode it's also determining exposure.
