Took this yesterday at Half Moon Bay with the 1.7 with my 300 (510mm) hand held. It seems to be working pretty good for me so far and it realy brings the action in close, but it is hard to keep steady.

Yes I am still on the DS, after I sent my second K10D back. I love the way it deals with WB and how natural the color looks and was happy with the results with the AF1.7 on the 300. It was almost sunset and the sun was shining through the waves as the surfers worked the waves. Two days before the waves were 40ft high, but I couldn't get over there than and had to do the best I could with what I had.
Here is another from Half Moon Bay, this time shot with the 300mm without the TC. ![]() Tom |

Thanks, I am WIFI less out here, so I can't get online more than once a day if that.
I stayed there for quite a while since the lower the light got, the greater the effect with the light shinning through the waves and without the TC I could shoot at 1/1000 sec at ISO 400 to really stop the action. One more with just the 300mm, I just love the light! ![]() Tom |

These are really awesome! I love the lighting through the waves, and the one with the TC is amazing (no way I'm able to handle something that long). Makes me want to go spend the night at one of the beach communities, so I can take surfing pictures in the evening.
How long are you out here for? |
