I dropped by University (Louisiana State) lakes a couple of weekends ago to try some bird shots. The Pelicans usually hang out on the far side of the lake, out of range of my longest lens (200mm). A couple of them decided to take flight and I managed this shot. I thought it was worth posting.

These things are huge!

Great capture!!! BIF are hard enough, but to get the moon in there also is outstanding.

Very cool shot. I remember how big they were when we used to see them when we used to visit Florida. I never could see how they could fly.

Outstanding!!!! the moon and a clear shot must have been tough..
you're right about how big these are. they look like C130s coming in..
we have them here in dallas all winter.. my problem is that i got tired of shooting them..
